Puffin
Did you know that Puffins are nicknamed ‘sea parrots’ or ‘clowns of the sea’ and their baby’s are called Pufflings! How adorable!
This little Puffin was a pleasure to draw from start to finish! I love the vibrant colours in the beak and the rich shiny black feathers!
I wanted to add a bit of context to this piece so I added the rock to ground him in the picture and then used watercolour to add the distant rocks and clear blue sky. I love the way the blue is reflected in the chest feathers and the bright orange feet on the rocks. This feels like a happy picture and that’s certainly the way I felt whilst creating him!
