Aren’t the colours of a Macaw simply breathtaking?
It’s like a rainbow, Mother Nature is certainly an artist!
We took a trip to Longleat last summer and the parrot show was one of the highlights. These birds are incredibly intelligent and it’s so important to keep them entertained if they are in captivity. The keepers obviously loved these birds and wanted the best for them. They knew each personality so well and were so compassionate to their needs. As soon as I came home I knew I wanted to capture one on paper and here he is!
This piece is drawn using watercolour pencils, which enable me to blend with water between each layer adding a slightly more painterly look which I love.
