Graphite Hedgehog
Did you know that baby Hedgehogs are called hoglets? How sweet is that!
I will never tire of drawing hedgehogs, although once I get to the spikes, I vouch not to do another for a while!
This piece is drawn in graphite, which is how I started before finding coloured pencil and it’s always lovely to go back to every now and again. Working in graphite is a very different technique to coloured pencil as you tend to blend between layers and erase as much as you put down to slowly build the texture and layers.
Their sweet faces and nobbly noses are always a delight to see and I hope he will find a new home where someone will enjoy looking at that sweet face everyday.
